The social program at the IMS consists of a number of receptions, an awards banquet, and several other events. Specific details are listed below and in the IMS2010 Program Book.

Workshop, Short-Course, and Technical-Symposium Breakfasts

Breakfasts are provided for all persons registered for the workshops, short courses, and regular technical sessions. A badge indicating registration for one of these events is required for admission.

MTT-S Welcome Reception

A reception for all IMS attendees will be held Monday evening, 6:00 to 8:00PM, in the Hilton Hotel, Sunset Deck.

GOLD Reception

GOLD stands for Graduates of the Last Decade. Graduates at all levels are welcome. The reception is at 300 Anaheim, 321 West Katella Avenue, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM Thursday.

Women in Microwaves Reception (WIM)

On Tuesday evening, the IEEE MTT-S WIM Reception aims to bring together the women who work in the field of microwave engineering.

Student Reception

A reception for students will be held on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in the Hilton, California B room.

Ham Radio Social

The Ham Radio Social event will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Hilton Hotel, California A room.

While enjoying a buffet and open bar, the attendees will have the opportunity to see the accomplishments of amateur radio operators who have skillfully designed and built transceivers for use from VHF to high millimeter wave bands. Some of these transceivers were made from surplus and commercially available components and some are state-of-the-art new designs including SDR. Several will be on display and their builders will be there to answer questions.

All conference attendees are welcome. You will find that amateur radio operators are utilizing their allocated frequency spectrum for very important purposes, and you may be interested in obtaining your license so you too can test your new designs and microwave propagation.

Industry Hosted Cocktail Reception

5:00 to 6:00 PM Wednesday in the exhibition area. A great opportunity to kick back, talk to friends and colleagues, and browse the exhibition floor.

MTT-S IMS Awards Banquet

This is the main banquet for the IMS, held at the Hilton, California Room, 7:00 to 10:00 PM Wednesday. It includes presentations of awards and entertainment by String Theory, an amazing music spectacle, where the building in which they perform is actually turned into an instrument. MTT-S Student Awards Luncheon

This luncheon recognizes recipients of the MTT-S undergraduate scholarships, MTT-S graduate fellowships, student volunteers, student paper awards, and the winners and participants in the student design competitions. It will be 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM Thursday in the California B Room of the Hilton.

Special Luncheon for Chuck Swift

Chuck has devoted a goodly part of his 52 years in the business to service to the microwave community. This luncheon is in his honor. Make reservations at the time of registration.
